Educational technology is an effective tool for learning and benefits both teachers and students. It is not only restricted to electronic devices such as iPads, Kindles, Nooks, laptops, etc., but it also includes other great applications such as Google Earth, Weebly, PowerPoint, Blogs, SmartBoards, and WebQuests. I also strongly agree that digital learning is more about the planning than just the purchase, and what we do with the technology as teachers.
Electronic educational technologies have become an important part of society today and should be used in the classroom. For example, it can keep students focused for longer periods of time, make students more excited to learn, and enable them to gain knowledge at their own pace. Education is no longer just about learning and memorizing facts and figures, it’s about collaborating with others, solving complex problems, developing different forms of communication and leadership skills, and improving motivation and productivity. Overall, we should be working towards embracing technology in the classroom, because by learning to use it, both teachers and students will develop skills essential for the 21st century.
